00;00;41;14 - 00;00;55;24
Stephanie
Dallas is a 61 year old wife, mom of seven, and fitness coach with over 30 years of experience. She helps women feel strong, confident and energized, especially through the ups and downs of menopause and midlife.

00;00;55;26 - 00;01;11;05
Seth
She's all about simple, effective workouts that actually fit into real life. I love that things that you can do at home without extremes and overwhelm. She believes in building strength, boosting energy, and creating habits that last.

00;01;11;08 - 00;01;26;23
Stephanie
As a stay at home mom for many years. She learned how to manage time, multitask, and show up for everyone else. But also learned the importance of taking care of herself. That is what she teaches now. How to make yourself a priority without guilt.

00;01;26;25 - 00;01;48;24
Seth
Her personal mantra. Age is my superpower. Every year brings more wisdom, more strength, and more clarity. She doesn't believe in limits or labels. I was thinking about that today as I was doing the gym and like I am limitless, like I doesn't matter. The girls are, we're riding bikes today and our little girls are like, well, actually, Ruth was like, you're old.

00;01;48;26 - 00;01;55;12
Seth
And Hannah's like, he's not old. And I'm thinking, I'm eating with Dallas today. There are no limits. I have no limits.

00;01;55;14 - 00;01;56;01
Dalyce

00;01;56;04 - 00;01;59;23

Seth
Dallas, welcome to the show.

00;02;10;15 - 00;02;14;22
Dalyce
Thank you Steph and Stephanie. Thank you for having me. Happy to be here.

00;02;14;24 - 00;02;16;18
Stephanie
We are so happy to have you.

00;02;16;21 - 00;02;44;10
Seth
Now you bring in a story that that every woman who's who's listening to this, needs. Right. This is this is mission critical information. Today, it's all about self-care. I'm going to say self-care for the body. Right? Because we're going to be talking about fitness. This is fit. Mom of seven, by the way. Right? But as as our lives are so integrated, you take care of the body, you take care of the spirit, right?

00;02;44;11 - 00;02;52;24
Seth
You take care of the body. You take care of the emotions. So it's not just. It's not just the old song. Let's get physical right?

00;02;52;26 - 00;02;55;14
Dalyce
Yeah. No, it's all it all works together, right?

00;02;55;16 - 00;03;01;01
Seth
Yes, absolutely. But before we jump into fitness, you were just out of the country.

00;03;01;03 - 00;03;02;29
Dalyce
I just came back from Canada.

00;03;03;01 - 00;03;04;19
Seth
Because you're originally from Canada.

00;03;04;22 - 00;03;08;00
Dalyce
I am originally from Canada. So I'm there a couple times a year.

00;03;08;02 - 00;03;13;28
Seth
I'm so tempted. I'm not going to do it. I'm not going to get into, like, governmental policies and politics right now.

00;03;13;29 - 00;03;18;13
Dalyce
I don't yeah, I don't do it.

00;03;18;16 - 00;03;30;16
Dalyce
I was I actually was wearing a Canada baseball hat on the way home, back to the States. My mom was in Canada, so she's like, are you sure you want to wear the hat? This is why I insist there's a lot of stuff going on on this. I'm sure I'll be fine.

00;03;30;18 - 00;03;54;16
Seth
That's the end. Which is so funny. I've heard that we were having a conversation with somebody else about that recently. About somebody coming from Canada or something. Or are you sure? And thinking, this is Canada. Folks like these are the these these are our North American brothers and sisters. Some of them who speak French. We won't hold that against them.

00;03;54;18 - 00;04;02;15
Seth
Who, like, pose no threat. Like like I never I almost well and I almost don't think of Canadians.

00;04;02;15 - 00;04;23;01
Dalyce
Is that like country. No they're not I mean, they're not different. You know what I mean? I'm actually do I have dual citizenship. So I'm Canadian, Canadian and American. You know, I was born in Canada. You know, almost all of my family, you know, my relatives live in Canada. So, yeah, I mean, I think a lot of people say Canadians are so nice, so much nicer.

00;04;23;01 - 00;04;25;28
Dalyce
They're so nice. But I find there's nice people everywhere.

00;04;26;01 - 00;04;26;12
Stephanie
That is.

00;04;26;12 - 00;04;36;14
Dalyce
True. Yeah. It just takes you back that mindset. If you're looking for someone that's grumpy and not friendly, you're going to find them, right? But I think there's everywhere I've been there. I've always run into nice people.

00;04;36;14 - 00;04;38;29
Stephanie
So I totally agree.

00;04;39;02 - 00;04;44;03
Seth
And maybe you're attracting it. Maybe you need to look in the mirror. Maybe you're the grumpy person, right? You know, and and that's.

00;04;44;05 - 00;04;46;19
Dalyce
That's know you're fine, right?

00;04;46;21 - 00;04;47;10
Stephanie
Yep.

00;04;47;13 - 00;04;48;05
Dalyce
Yeah.

00;04;48;07 - 00;05;00;08
Seth
Definitely. Love it. Awesome. Well, we this is our signature question. Dallas. What what are you most passionate about right now? And what are you doing about it? And that's what we're going to dive in for the next time.

00;05;00;10 - 00;05;16;18
Dalyce
I mean, that's what you open with, you know, you're talking about health. And I mean, is there anything more important than our health? I think health is everything. Health is health as well. That's about well, that's what true wealth is, especially as we age. When we're younger, we always think of money and things. And, you know, that's wealthy but wealthy.

00;05;16;20 - 00;05;42;26
Dalyce
Wealthy is your health. Right. So I'm passionate about helping women, mainly 40 and above, who've lost their confidence or motivation, you know, not feeling strong anymore, capable and low energy levels they've been through, they're heading towards menopause or has been through them or they're after that. And so I you know, it's a passion of mine to to help women and create simple, beginning, realistic workouts that fit into your real life that actually make a difference.

00;05;42;28 - 00;05;53;10
Dalyce
Building muscle, focusing on building muscle, increasing your energy levels and just improving the quality of your life. Not not just longevity. Because we want longevity, but we want quality of yours, right?

00;05;53;12 - 00;05;53;23
Stephanie
Yeah.

00;05;53;23 - 00;05;55;07
Dalyce
So, you know.

00;05;55;09 - 00;05;56;18
Seth
I'm a live you guys.

00;05;56;18 - 00;06;01;12
Dalyce
You have lots of kids firsthand. I know what it's like to be busy and put that on the backburner.

00;06;01;15 - 00;06;02;05
Stephanie
Yes.

00;06;02;07 - 00;06;28;05
Seth
Well it is. And I love I love your acknowledgment for so many women that that women put other people first. So many women. And like, there's a spectrum. Right. And we need to find our our mojo. You know the flow. It's not on the one side where I'm only going to take care of myself because, you know, we got people who live over there.

00;06;28;08 - 00;06;41;14
Seth
And then it's not I'm only going to take I'm here to serve my family. Right. I'm going to, you know, if I'm married, I'm going to take care of my husband or, you know, maybe single mom. I mean, we've got single moms or former single moms here, you know, on the show, I'm I'm single dad. I'm going to take care of the kids.

00;06;41;14 - 00;06;58;03
Seth
I'm going to take care of everybody else. But I do find I feel like especially especially women who have servant hearts, whether they have kids or not, they find themselves over on that other side of the pendulum where, like, you come last, right?

00;06;58;05 - 00;07;17;09
Dalyce
Well, I just think we do that as moms because we just naturally, I think women naturally feel guilty when they work out, you know, or they take some time for themself to do anything. You feel bad because you're taking time away from the kids and stuff as you're speaking. I was thinking, don't I'm not taking any of anything away from the dads, because I think dads also do the same thing, especially if you're single.

00;07;17;09 - 00;07;34;29
Dalyce
That you put yourself last, you're taking your kids to sports or whatever you're doing with your kids. I think just parents in general put themselves last and think that doing anything for themselves is selfish, and it's not because we have to take care of ourselves first before we can take care of others. Just like putting on your oxygen mask and point out, right?

00;07;35;01 - 00;07;45;07
Dalyce
Yeah, I was asked to do that first. So if you're not, if you're not fulfilling yourself and energizing yourself and taking care of yourself, you're not going to be there physically or mentally for for the loved ones around you, right?

00;07;45;09 - 00;07;52;27
Stephanie
Yeah. Or emotionally, you know, being a parent, right? Or wanting to serve others takes a lot of your emotional, you know.

00;07;53;00 - 00;07;58;23
Dalyce
Time. Yeah. For sure. For mental health, I mean, physical health. But just it's just as important for our mental health.

00;07;58;26 - 00;08;00;04
Stephanie
Yes.

00;08;00;07 - 00;08;33;17
Seth
Well, I appreciate Dallas. I appreciate the vote of confidence in me and all of male done. And fathers, I am going to say though, and I've never been a woman, but in my observations I. And as a single dad like I remember, I remember being exhausted. I remember giving so much for my kids, but I feel like I can turn on the button and say, okay, compartmentalize is me time, right?

00;08;33;17 - 00;08;35;29
Seth
Like I'm going to find like I'm going to find a way.

00;08;36;01 - 00;08;36;28
Dalyce
Yeah.

00;08;37;01 - 00;08;59;05
Seth
And I just feel like I've observed that, that so many women don't are not they they don't have that valve or they don't know where that valve is. They don't have the time or the energy or the strength because they're exhausted to find that valve. You know, I think I think it's just there's there's more nurturing, there's more caregiving care.

00;08;59;09 - 00;09;11;22
Dalyce
You know, they're just naturally caregivers. I think in just years ago, when women stayed at home, took care of the kids, it's still, I think, kind of ingrained in us. It's like kind of our that's what we should be doing right? That is probably where it comes from.

00;09;11;25 - 00;09;32;29
Seth
Yeah. Yeah. And I and I, and I think in all aspects women's health. But I feel especially, especially when it comes to, you know, what we're going to talk about today, whatever anybody wants to call, you know, whether it's drudgery working out right or getting healthy, right. That that's that is one. Yeah. I know you can invite your kids.

00;09;32;29 - 00;09;34;01
Seth
They can do it with, you.

00;09;34;04 - 00;09;34;15
Stephanie
Know.

00;09;34;15 - 00;09;39;13
Seth
But but, you know, I'm thinking about Stephanie here. We just had this conversation.

00;09;39;15 - 00;09;41;29
Dalyce
This evening. That alone time, right?

00;09;42;01 - 00;09;53;21
Stephanie
I have to I don't know what it is, but I've been this way my whole life. If I'm working out, I cannot have my kids in there, mom. Or, like, crawling over me or I want to do it with you, you know, like, you give me.

00;09;53;21 - 00;09;54;22
Dalyce
One time you need.

00;09;54;22 - 00;10;04;15
Stephanie
To. They can do it with me. Sure, independently with me. But, you know, if I'm having to stop all the time to help them to figure it out, then that's just too painful.

00;10;04;17 - 00;10;09;08
Dalyce
It takes away from the purpose, right? You're trying to mentally, like, get your own in your own zone.

00;10;09;10 - 00;10;12;17
Stephanie
Yes, exactly. Ma'am, I, I'm oh, please.

00;10;12;17 - 00;10;18;05
Seth
Mom, please. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. I hear you.

00;10;18;07 - 00;10;28;10
Stephanie
Well, and I feel like it's also really easy for a woman to. Oh, well, I have this. I can do it next. Oh, I have this. Oh, I can do it later. And then later comes and it just doesn't happen, right?

00;10;28;14 - 00;10;30;15
Dalyce
Right. We're trying to do too many things at once, right?

00;10;30;20 - 00;10;31;17
Stephanie
Yes.

00;10;31;17 - 00;10;37;19
Seth
So Garth Brooks song If Tomorrow Never Comes. Yeah, right. If the workout never comes like it doesn't there, there's just. Yeah.

00;10;37;21 - 00;10;46;20
Dalyce
No, that's why you have to put it on the calendar. You have to do it at the same time and like, make sure you do it. Yeah. Be consistent. You have to have a pattern. So you just come second nature.

00;10;46;22 - 00;11;07;26
Seth
Well I think we're going to take a different route than sometimes we take. But you have we we kind of we, we collaborated beforehand and I think we just want, we want to dive into a bunch of Q&A today. All right. And and glean some wisdom. You obviously do a lot of one on one coaching women over 40, right.

00;11;07;29 - 00;11;09;00
Seth

00;11;09;02 - 00;11;21;09
Dalyce
Based basically. Yeah. But I do have women that are younger than 40, and I've trained many women that were younger than 40, you know, for a year or so. But that's kind of my niche. I find on Instagram. It's usually women. They're around those years.

00;11;21;12 - 00;11;22;02
Seth
Awesome.

00;11;22;04 - 00;11;33;28
Stephanie
Well, all I have to say is when I checked out your Instagram page the first time, I was like, she looks like at least a decade or more younger than she really is. Are you.

00;11;33;28 - 00;11;36;16
Dalyce
Kidding you? Thank you.

00;11;36;18 - 00;11;40;25
Stephanie
I was like, I am all I am, all ears, all ears.

00;11;41;01 - 00;11;54;21
Dalyce
I mean, I feel I feel decades younger. I mean, there are some days I'm sure you go over some videos, you're like, she looks her age or older. I mean, we all have those days. That's fine, but I do. But I do feel good. I mean, I, you know, I look in the mirror and go, gosh, I think we all do it.

00;11;54;21 - 00;12;12;07
Dalyce
I go, gosh, I am 61. And I really look 61 today, but I don't feel 61. I still feel like I still feel great. I feel like in my, you know, 30s, I don't I you know, I find, you know, I mean, it's like here and there and little things where you're like, oh, my knees make a noise or whatever, but I feel good.

00;12;12;09 - 00;12;28;19
Stephanie
Well, I will say, when I came across, the first video of you and your husband and I was like, wait, they're 13 years apart, how does that work? And then I'm like, but she's so young looking and she has so much energy and youthfulness. Well, no wonder it works.

00;12;28;22 - 00;12;43;06
Dalyce
That's what I got. I gotta be honest with yourself. He has to. He's. She tries to keep up with me. I've got a lot of energy. So even though even though he's younger, he's always like I keep him on his toes is like, man. So yeah, we're always kind of competing with each other. But yeah.

00;12;43;08 - 00;12;43;27
Stephanie
I love.

00;12;43;27 - 00;12;44;26
Seth
It, I love.

00;12;44;26 - 00;12;46;28
Dalyce
It. So great.

00;12;47;01 - 00;12;49;09
Seth
Juxtaposition that. What's that.

00;12;49;14 - 00;12;51;14
Dalyce
Said? We motivate each other you know.

00;12;51;14 - 00;13;14;27
Seth
Yeah I love it. Juxtaposition that on the other side of the spectrum I saw a a video clip of you and your mother. Yes. Recently. Yeah. You want to just I'm going to skip this question. We're not going to skip this question. We can come back to this question in a minute. But kind of take us there, take us to that well, to that video in our minds in this conversation, what was going on?

00;13;14;27 - 00;13;16;18
Seth
And your mother is in her 90s, right.

00;13;16;19 - 00;13;21;26
Dalyce
She's 93. Yeah. Which video do you see? Because I posted, I just came for my mom on Monday. I just love her, so.

00;13;22;03 - 00;13;25;05
Seth
I don't know. Okay, take your pick. I don't know, you.

00;13;25;09 - 00;13;42;27
Dalyce
Supposed to win today of her at her gym doing her gym workout. So I mean, she does. It's something that I mean, it's common for me to see. So I know that it's very unusual. It's incredible. But it's. I think it's more incredible for people that have never seen it. Like, wow, she actually really drives, but she drives herself to the gym four days a week.

00;13;42;29 - 00;13;59;18
Dalyce
She gets in her car if it's snowing, she scrapes the snow for windows and she drives to the gym and she likes to go to a big box gym. She goes Planet Fitness. And she like, you know, and like we're talking about earlier mental health. She, she goes to keep her body moving because she says to me, all the time, if I don't stop, if I stop moving.

00;13;59;18 - 00;14;13;10
Dalyce
Also, if I miss skip a day, if I, you know, if I only go two days a week, I'm going to stop moving and I won't be able to move again. So I don't want to skip a day. She writes it on the calendar and she goes, but she does it just as much for her mental health because it keeps her accountable.

00;14;13;10 - 00;14;28;11
Dalyce
And when she walks in the gym, she gets greeted by someone that sees her on a regular basis. She there's regular gym goers that say good morning to her, that wave to her so that it makes her feel good, you know? So it's a community part of it, but it's the physical and mental part of it.

00;14;28;14 - 00;14;34;26
Seth
Social there's the social interaction. There's there's there's the fact that here, what's your mother's name?

00;14;34;29 - 00;14;35;21
Dalyce
Edna.

00;14;35;23 - 00;14;46;27
Seth
Edna. Here's Edna in her early 90s. Dual in life, folks showing up at the gym. Okay. No excuses. Right.

00;14;46;29 - 00;15;03;21
Dalyce
There is no, you know, there is no excuse because, you know, I have a lot of questions that, like, does your mom have any injuries that she hurt? Okay. How does she do that? She, you know, she's some we're talking prescription videos earlier. She's on zero medications. She doesn't take anything. And she sees a doctor just for a routine physical once a year.

00;15;03;21 - 00;15;28;21
Dalyce
And then she has any other issues, but she never does. She's got arthritis, but it doesn't stop her from doing things. You know, people. How does she's probably choose this and she's she's genetically no, she has arthritis. It's not horrible. But she feels it in her knees and she feels it in her hands when she does certain things open jars and stuff, but she doesn't back off and say, I'm not going to do it because of she just does it because she knows if she stops doing it, it's going to be harder to start back up.

00;15;28;24 - 00;15;44;05
Dalyce
So I mean, that just goes I mean, that goes for everybody. You stop doing something, you know, you don't start working out to your 60s. You're kind of playing catch up. It's never too late. And you can definitely get stronger. You can lose your weight, whatever. But you know, just keep keep going. So, you know, start and just keep going.

00;15;44;05 - 00;15;47;16
Dalyce
Don't stop. But yeah, she wants to be here for.

00;15;47;18 - 00;15;48;21
Seth
Four days a week.

00;15;48;23 - 00;15;50;23
Dalyce
For that. She consistently four days a week.

00;15;50;25 - 00;16;13;25
Seth
Wherever you are today, no matter the age, make sure that you set a plan. Do something today. Yeah. That reminds me of some research, and kind of a care facility, right? Care facility for seniors. Yeah. What they what they did is they decided everybody's going to do some sort of resistance training. And I know we're going to jump into this today, and it really wasn't.

00;16;13;25 - 00;16;42;17
Seth
What is the resistance training, right. It was just the fact that they're going to do it. Yeah. And the results were absolutely jaw dropping. Every single category, every single person made improvements. And we're talking about people into their you can build muscle into your 90s right. It might be a little harder. Right. But bottom line is your body is designed to build muscle into your 90s.

00;16;42;17 - 00;17;06;14
Seth
So they had these groups of people and what they noticed is after, you know, the study was done and it wasn't really a long term study, the people who were in their beds at the beginning were now up and in walkers, the people who started in walkers were now walking independent. And the people who are now who started off walking independent were walking faster or running.

00;17;06;21 - 00;17;07;24
Seth
Yeah. Like.

00;17;07;26 - 00;17;21;08
Dalyce
Yeah. That just goes back to my point where my mom said, and she's right, because she has a lot of people say, I know you're 93, you need to slow down, right? And she says, no, but stop doing it. I won't be able to I won't be able to move. And she knows that if she stops moving, she'll die.

00;17;21;10 - 00;17;37;24
Dalyce
She just knows that because she, like you said, she's living life. She loves life so much. She wants to keep doing the things she loves. She loves to work in her garden. She likes to get in her car and drive herself to the grocery store. And if she were to lose her driver's license, the ability to drive herself somewhere because she lives alone in her own house, or it's just an apartment, but she lives on her own.

00;17;37;24 - 00;17;54;05
Dalyce
She's no one to come and help her. If she lost independence, she literally would probably not wake up one day. She probably just would kill herself today because that's for her. That's living. She wants an independent life. So it's it's, you know, that's it's important for her. You know, she's not just going to give up and say it hurts or it's hard.

00;17;54;05 - 00;17;56;29
Dalyce
It's just she likes life that much.

00;17;57;01 - 00;17;59;08
Stephanie
Wow. I'm seeing so inspiring.

00;17;59;10 - 00;18;05;27
Seth
I'm seeing a reality show right now in my, you know, life with that new life with Edna. You know, just watch going around it.

00;18;05;28 - 00;18;22;15
Dalyce
Take it for granted. You know, like, I think it's a lot I think a lot of people take their bodies for granted. And you take the human body for Grant, like you said, you know, someone's in a bed now. They're on a walker. From a walker to walking the human body is incredible. It's an incredible machine. And we were able to do a lot of things that we should be doing a lot of things with it.

00;18;22;17 - 00;18;35;13
Dalyce
Just because we're getting older doesn't mean we can't do them anymore. You know, we we played on a playground as children, but as we get older, we stopped doing that. We stopped sitting on the floor and we stopped climbing things just because, I mean, we shouldn't do that. And that's why we lose the ability to do it.

00;18;35;16 - 00;18;45;23
Seth
Just a moment of silence for Edna right now, I'm just I'm thinking of how awesome that is. I'm thinking of the video clips we're going to make for the video shorts. Oh my goodness. You know, with Edna's permission.

00;18;45;25 - 00;19;06;09
Dalyce
As a pole for, I mean, she climbed over our balcony to get in her. I've got a video that went viral. I think it was a year and a half ago in her front of her apartment. She lost her keys in the house and didn't have it, but she knew her balcony door was open. She literally climbed over a big balcony over it and jumped over to get to open her sliding glass door, and I posted it and people were like, oh my gosh, how could you let your mom do that was so horrible?

00;19;06;09 - 00;19;20;12
Dalyce
Like, she could have gone home like she she wouldn't. I did the older I go, mom, what are you doing? She would have done it anyway. She does it all the time. But like, I mean, there's there's probably 30 years. I couldn't do that. And she's hopped over and open her door. But it went viral because people are like, wait, there's no way she's 90.

00;19;20;12 - 00;19;32;20
Dalyce
And she did that, and she did, but she does stuff like that. She climbs ladders. I posted one the other day, which is climbing a ladder, and she hangs her curtains. I mean, she does everything the average person does. She just doesn't like, you know, things. Stop her.

00;19;32;22 - 00;19;34;06
Seth
I love it. Yeah.

00;19;34;08 - 00;19;36;25
Stephanie
So has she always been this way?

00;19;36;27 - 00;19;55;13
Dalyce
She has. She's always been. Not. Let's put it this way. She's never been sedentary, but she live in Canada. The job that she was at, she was forced into at 65. She had to retire this. But the she worked in a hospital. That was what the role was. So she retired at 65 not wanting to retire. And she noticed within a few months she wasn't as physical.

00;19;55;16 - 00;20;09;08
Dalyce
She had a fiscal job in the hospital. She was sitting more and she knows she was getting stiff and she was losing her strength and she noticed use of the what where of that. And she said, if I don't take the steps to do something about it, I'm going to really slow down and I'm not going to have my strength anymore.

00;20;09;08 - 00;20;32;19
Dalyce
And her energy levels were dropping. So she actually she started working out a little bit at her apartment doing with videos. And she hated it because she didn't she wasn't one of those person, you know, people that like, I love working out. So she went to the gym, she joined a big box gym and was nervous and just started off small on a treadmill and watch what people did and ask questions and, and, eventually she liked it.

00;20;32;19 - 00;20;45;26
Dalyce
And she's like, you know, I like this atmosphere. And it's been going ever since. And that was at 65. So she just she took the steps. I mean, she was it was uncomfortable for her. It was awkward. It was she was very nervous. But she did it because she knew that she had to. Yeah. And she's never looked back.

00;20;45;26 - 00;20;47;25
Stephanie
So that's awesome.

00;20;47;25 - 00;20;50;20
Seth
That's dang inspiring.

00;20;50;23 - 00;20;51;13
Stephanie
Really as.

00;20;51;19 - 00;21;06;11
Seth
Well. I also love that, you know everybody's different. And that's something you're talking about just really applying it to your life. Like I'm happy to go out in our gym, you know, in the garage and do my workout. On the other hand. And you do that too. I mean, you'll go I go there.

00;21;06;18 - 00;21;25;23
Stephanie
But and I feel great after, and I'm glad I did it, but it takes me so much more to get there because I'm like your mom. I'm a social creature. I like to have the community. I like to have, the energy that we all bring to to the workout. My big thing is yoga typically. Or dancing.

00;21;25;26 - 00;21;28;26
Stephanie
So but I'll do it. But yeah, it's not my joy in life.

00;21;28;26 - 00;21;41;17
Dalyce
Or that's the secret as to finding something. You know people. What's the secret. That's it. That's, you know, that's helpful. That's a big tip right. There is do something you love. I mean, there's there's so many things you can do physically. You don't have to do one thing. It's like there's a lot of things you can do to move your body.

00;21;41;17 - 00;21;49;00
Dalyce
You can do yoga, you can do, you can dance, you can bike, you can row, you can whatever. You climb a lot, whatever you want to do, just keep your body moving, right?

00;21;49;02 - 00;21;51;15
Seth
Climb a balcony like you're good. Like, seriously.

00;21;51;15 - 00;21;53;02
Dalyce
Like balcony. Yeah.

00;21;53;05 - 00;22;00;10
Seth
0777 sets. Yeah. Seven sets of climbing the balcony. Yeah. All right. Like, do it, do it. You love. Yeah.

00;22;00;10 - 00;22;08;25
Stephanie
Well, I, I actually know a couple of men who every year on their birthday, they try to see if they can jump over this, this fence.

00;22;08;27 - 00;22;09;15
Dalyce
Oh really.

00;22;09;15 - 00;22;15;29
Stephanie
Well to see if they still have it. Yeah. It just made me think of that.

00;22;16;02 - 00;22;16;24
Seth
I wonder how high.

00;22;16;24 - 00;22;18;24
Dalyce
That fence is. Let's be careful.

00;22;18;26 - 00;22;27;07
Stephanie
One of them was pretty high. Yeah. All right. So why should every woman over 40 be lifting something, even if it's just her body weight?

00;22;27;09 - 00;22;46;02
Dalyce
Exactly. I mean, you're right. I mean, you don't need it doesn't need to be weights. If you're a beginner and you don't have a set of weights, your body weight alone, you can do a lot. You know, because we lose muscle every. When does your metabolism changes? Bone density declines. And that's a big concern. You know, there's a there's a lot of elderly people that they fall they break a hip.

00;22;46;02 - 00;23;06;02
Dalyce
And that's that's not good. You know, strength training helps reduce belly fat, which a lot of women complain about. Prevents bone density loss. A lot of women have osteoporosis. So that's, that's that's huge to do that improves your sleep, your energy. Just your just your quality of life. Right. And it's you can do them at home.

00;23;06;04 - 00;23;22;22
Dalyce
You can do bodyweight exercises at home. And once those get to be a little bit too easy, then you progress it, you know, using a set of dumbbells and you don't have dumbbells. You can use soup cans I mean I well, my mom soup cans when I was there because we did some workouts in her apartment and she didn't have her dumbbells handy.

00;23;22;24 - 00;23;39;15
Dalyce
So we can just use soup cans. Mom, you can use water bottles. You know, it's just something that you want to challenge your muscles. You want that for for rest of overload. So every woman should do it. And don't wait till you're 40. You know, I have four girls, and they all they all, you know, they are they already know better, but they all workout with weights.

00;23;39;18 - 00;23;55;24
Dalyce
But do you know, for the younger guys and girls, but specifically women like younger don't wait till your 30s and 40s. You know, do it now. Like now is the time to like build that foundation. So that it's just second nature for you and put the muscle on now, create it now. So it's going to be so much easier.

00;23;55;24 - 00;24;03;13
Dalyce
It's just same thing with eating. It's easier for your future. Yeah. So I would say just for do I say all women.

00;24;03;16 - 00;24;26;25
Seth
So I go out and workout. The girls know when I'm up in the morning, that, you know, I'm either doing either my goal is six days a week, either either strength training, weightlifting, or yoga. Like, I kind of go back and forth because I'm looking for a balanced approach, right? Flexibility and strength and it things that yoga brings me, are so critical right now.

00;24;26;25 - 00;24;32;09
Seth
And I do a bunch of cardio, you know, basketball and horse and hiking and all that. But it's a good balance.

00;24;32;09 - 00;24;33;16
Dalyce
Yeah.

00;24;33;18 - 00;24;45;06
Seth
So I'm out in the gym regularly, and the girls, the seven and nine year old will intermittently workout with me, you know, or ride their bikes. I mean, like, kids workout, right? Yeah.

00;24;45;13 - 00;24;49;25
Dalyce
But they're actually they're actually having fun, which we should be doing. Right.

00;24;49;27 - 00;25;11;01
Seth
Absolutely. But Ruth, our seven year old, recently has been a little more focused and said that I'm working out with you. I'm like, okay, great. And the whole reason is because her older sister was able to pick up and hold. Was it you? Yeah, yeah.

00;25;11;03 - 00;25;14;04
Stephanie
She had her older sister, our 20 year old and me. Yeah.

00;25;14;04 - 00;25;39;22
Seth
So our nine year old, you know, was doing a little baby carrier, right. And Ruth's Ruth saw that. And she's like, dad, I want to be able to do that. And so she goes out and that girl full on, she she does real push ups. Like when I say real, she does a push ups, full plank push ups.

00;25;39;24 - 00;25;41;00
Stephanie
Incredible form.

00;25;41;01 - 00;26;15;12
Seth
With incredible form. And I just think, oh, how awesome is this that, you know, our passions for yoga or for movement or our bodies, is something that that we're seeing, you know, right now. And we can see it throughout, you know, all of our kids because we've done. But I'm different. I'm a different dad. Like, I'm a different dad than I was, you know, long time ago when I, when I had when my oldest was seven, you know, however many decades.

00;26;15;12 - 00;26;33;12
Dalyce
Example. There's a power of example. We don't need to tell our kids they're we say don't tell your kids things. Just do it. They're watching you. Whether you sweat it, whether you tell them you're doing yoga or not or, yeah, you're doing your strength workout, whatever you're doing, they're watching you do it. And over time, I think just them seeing that makes them, you know, they want to do that.

00;26;33;14 - 00;26;35;01
Dalyce
Yeah. That's great.

00;26;35;01 - 00;26;37;11
Seth
Absolutely, absolutely.

00;26;37;14 - 00;26;45;27
Stephanie
So many women over 40 feel overwhelmed trying to get back into fitness. What's your best advice for getting started and actually sticking with it?

00;26;45;29 - 00;27;05;18
Dalyce
You know, set realistic goals because what worked for you at 30 or in your 20s may not be working out. Probably doesn't work. You know? You know, I've switched my workouts over the years, too. I just be super focused on cardio because that's what everyone did was cardio, you know, step aerobics, cardio, cardio. But now we know that building muscle is so, so, so important.

00;27;05;20 - 00;27;30;06
Dalyce
You know, if you find something like we just said, if you find something you love, you're going to stick to it, right? Keep it simple. Simple workouts. Just like with simple nutrition, simple habits. So just keep it simple. Doesn't have to be complicated. So strength you want a good balance like you sense of strength. Balance cardio. You need all those three nutrition you know that and keep all of it.

00;27;30;06 - 00;27;46;10
Dalyce
Keep it simple. If you want long term success, you know, get rid of the all or nothing mindset. You know, if I didn't do something today, you know, I'm going to start a workout program today, but I couldn't. I don't have 30 minutes to do it, so I just won't. I'll do it tomorrow. No, I just do five minutes.

00;27;46;13 - 00;28;02;28
Dalyce
I mean, you can do a great you can get a great circuit. You both have. You know this. If I had you go in your kitchen or living room, I gave you three exercises to do, say, 12 reps of three exercises, 4 or 5 times. It would literally take you maybe seven minutes, but you could you would be like, oh my gosh, my legs are burning.

00;28;03;02 - 00;28;17;27
Dalyce
I'm winded. Like, you can get a great workout in under ten minutes, you know, to stay focused so it doesn't have to be all or nothing. It's the same with, you know, when people start, you know, eating differently or they start diets, it's like, oh, I fell off the wagon. Do I had a cookie or whatever? Just forget it.

00;28;17;27 - 00;28;24;10
Dalyce
I'll start the diet next week. It's like, no, you just did. You just readjust and start off just just change tomorrow. Just do some better tomorrow.

00;28;24;16 - 00;28;32;24
Seth
It's all if you have seven minutes and a can. Pardon me, two cans of pinto beans. You can do anything. Right.

00;28;32;24 - 00;28;47;26
Dalyce
It's true. It's so true. You don't even. You can. You just use your body weight like there's so many things you can do with your body, I hope. I mean, like you said, your daughter push ups, if you did five minutes a, you know, certain many push ups and sit ups or whatever it is, jumping jacks, I mean, it's you'd be like, oh my gosh, that was so hard.

00;28;47;26 - 00;28;57;05
Dalyce
I'm so winded, I'm sweating, I feel great. You get your heart rate up, you break a sweat. You know your strengthen your heart, your strengthen the muscles in your legs. It's like a full body workout.

00;28;57;08 - 00;28;58;18
Stephanie
And all those endorphins.

00;28;58;21 - 00;29;03;21
Dalyce
They all add up overall. I mean all those seven minutes add up over time. Yes.

00;29;03;24 - 00;29;27;25
Seth
You know I obviously when I, I typically will do, you know, a day of full body and when I say a day like I'm talking about it like, like we're busy people making health a priority at 50. Me today. I will not lie. Thank you. Thank you, I mean, I do today. I am 50, but I've been.

00;29;28;00 - 00;29;30;04
Seth
I was 50 yesterday and the day before too. I thought.

00;29;30;04 - 00;29;31;25
Stephanie
That too. It was.

00;29;31;27 - 00;29;52;02
Seth
It was actually. I'm sorry. It's just one of those things I'm. I always just want people to say happy birthday. So I do this, but at 50, right, this era of my life, I am much more deliberate about what I'm doing. Yeah. So I'll do a full day and I'm talking about a full Damian 20 to 30 minute workout.

00;29;52;04 - 00;29;58;15
Seth
Right. That's because I can I can do that. I don't feel like I need to go to the gym for an hour, 90 minute like I don't like 20.

00;29;58;22 - 00;30;00;09
Dalyce
You get a great workout in 30 minutes.

00;30;00;16 - 00;30;19;19
Seth
Exactly. I'll do a full body day kind of integrating everything. I'll do a lower body leg day and then and I'll do I'll do an upper body strength day, right. So I'm just kind of rotating through those every other day between that and yoga and obviously you're gonna do squats, right. And people sometimes I think they think, squats.

00;30;19;19 - 00;30;46;02
Seth
Man, that just sounds, you know, you got your dumbbells. Whatever you're doing. Right. Bodyweight. Okay. Well, so yeah, that's exactly my point, babe. Is all this talk recently. At least it's lighting up my Instagram feed is just do three sets of ten squats. Ten squat. Pardon me, one set of ten squats after every meal. That's just 30 squats in a day.

00;30;46;04 - 00;31;05;23
Seth
Morning, afternoon, evening. It's great for your blood sugar, by the way. But what what's what do you how would you weigh in on the importance of squats? Even just bodyweight squats. I do it all the time. Like, man, ten squats. I can feel my legs. I can feel those muscles, especially for women. What are your thoughts on on bodyweight squats for women?

00;31;05;23 - 00;31;19;01
Dalyce
Oh my gosh, I mean squat is such a foundational exercise that everyone should be able to do. I mean, think about that. We do. I mean, we do that all day long, sitting in our car, sitting on a chair, sitting on a toilet. I mean, who I mean, who wants to lose the ability to do that. So yeah.

00;31;19;01 - 00;31;32;06
Dalyce
Starting off bodyweight squats, great. You know, if you need assisted in holding on to the side of a chair or counter, because a lot of people have a difficult time doing a squat and getting in and out of a chair. But that should be a wake up call for you if you have a hard time getting out of a chair.

00;31;32;06 - 00;31;49;06
Dalyce
I mean, there are, you know, people that have health issues or knee issues. They can't help that. But if it's just from not strengthening your legs and you're sitting all day long at a desk, you need to start doing something about it. You need to start practicing getting up and down assisted at first and stretching your legs too.

00;31;49;06 - 00;32;07;16
Dalyce
You know your hips are getting tight, your hamstrings are getting tight, your quads are you know your lower body is getting tight. So you need to get the stretching in as well. And you do yoga. That's that helps with that as well. But stretching and mobility your your hips they start to tighten up. It's not. Yeah. That's that's one exercise that you definitely should be doing.

00;32;07;16 - 00;32;24;08
Dalyce
And you can do them anywhere. You can do them while you're watching TV. People that you know have excuse like, you know, they're on the couch watching TV every commercial get up and do you know, up and down, up and down in your couch on a stool. Yeah. And then progress because you want to, you know, you need to have that progressive overload to strengthen your legs over time.

00;32;24;08 - 00;32;36;08
Dalyce
If you're doing squats, you're like, I can do these and I have good form, then add some weight to it. And like, like I said earlier, you can have a a jug of water, you can hold some soup cans. And then when that gets easy, then maybe invest in a set of dumbbells.

00;32;36;11 - 00;32;39;18
Seth
Three crumble cookies. Do a squat, take a bite.

00;32;39;18 - 00;32;44;26
Dalyce
No it's good. It's going to be more than a squat for crumble cookies. I can tell you that much.

00;32;44;29 - 00;32;47;19
Seth
How many calories are in a crumble cookie?

00;32;47;20 - 00;33;03;22
Dalyce
I you know, my daughter is actually a fanatic. She just loves to crumble. She just likes to look at their menu. She talked about them yesterday and she's actually a baker. And she actually made a knockoff crumble cookie last night at home. Like a healthier version. But I honestly think that one crumble cookie is insane. It was like, don't quote me.

00;33;03;24 - 00;33;13;27
Dalyce
It was between 7 and 1000 calories for like one cookie. It was something crazy. So much. Yeah. Wow. All sugar, all fat, all or, chemicals.

00;33;13;29 - 00;33;18;16
Seth
Yeah. Well, yeah. What you got your daily dose of glyphosate in the flour.

00;33;18;19 - 00;33;20;27
Stephanie
Are you sure it's only daily. I mean.

00;33;21;00 - 00;33;27;19
Dalyce
I mean, I have you have one, but you're like, you do get addicted. You take a bite, you go, oh my gosh. And you want to eat the whole thing, right? You're hooked on it. But yeah. Yeah.

00;33;27;21 - 00;33;51;04
Stephanie
I will say though, like the more, I focus on my health and the healthier I'm eating and, yeah, just working out and doing all the things. I remember getting some cookies and saving them for a little while. I put them in the freezer, and then I got them out and I tried them, and they literally tasted like chemicals to me.

00;33;51;07 - 00;34;06;16
Dalyce
So, yeah, I know it's interesting because the more you eat, the more often you eat healthy and have that, you know, you work out and you're like, I put a good workout in. You do look at food differently. It's a mindset. You do, you look at, you go, I, you know, I know a crumble cookie is going to taste good or whatever it is you're eating.

00;34;06;22 - 00;34;23;00
Dalyce
It's going to take you what 30s to eat it. But in that 30s, you're like, I worked out so hard and I know it's. And it's not going to make me feel good after a whole mental thing. So I'm not going to eat it because you you do look at it differently. Hopefully you do. I mean, you do need to think about food as your medicine for sure.

00;34;23;03 - 00;34;23;21
Dalyce
Yeah.

00;34;23;23 - 00;34;35;01
Stephanie
For sure. And and you know, not only do the cookies taste differently, but, you know, fruits and vegetables and protein tastes better to me. Yeah. You're right. More flavor.

00;34;35;01 - 00;34;36;20
Dalyce
And you're right.

00;34;36;23 - 00;34;37;29
Stephanie
Yeah. Make me happy.

00;34;38;01 - 00;34;40;00
Dalyce
Yeah.

00;34;40;02 - 00;35;08;28
Seth
I remember the quote that you just shared. Dallas. Yeah. Hippocrates. We're talking like old Greek. We're talking thousands of years old. Right. Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food. And we you. Actually, Stephanie is our co our chief health officer. As so many women are in their families, both nuclear families and and extended.

00;35;09;00 - 00;35;37;17
Seth
And she put that little quote up there, and I've heard that in the fridge. On the fridge. It's there, you know, every single day I for whatever reason, I don't know my, my desire to connect to, to, to Greek heritage or whatever, I don't even think I have any Greek heritage, but I've heard that saying my whole life, and I don't think it really has started to mean a ton to me until the last year of my life.

00;35;37;23 - 00;36;03;14
Seth
Not not, you know, not to say that, eating healthy hasn't been something I've it's it's I mean, it has been a a string of decisions and implementations, one little thing at a time. But it wasn't not long. It wasn't long ago, like, really not long ago that I was chowing Cool Ranch Doritos. Yeah. You know, occasionally.

00;36;03;14 - 00;36;32;22
Seth
Right. Basically trips. Right. Something to keep me awake while I drive and, you know, Coca Cola. I've never been a big soda addict, but, you know, putting those things into my body and growing. And I grew up on dime store. I was one of those dime store kids that spent a significant chunk of change on every form of of red number 40 and yellow number five.

00;36;32;22 - 00;36;54;14
Seth
And back in the day, it was actually sugar, right? Right on from nerds to lick a stick. I got it, you know, and and this saying just is sinking into me in a way I, I really can't explain in the last, in the last like era here that I'm man. And, you know, I could count it in moons, right.

00;36;54;14 - 00;37;26;29
Seth
Not very many moons, not very many years. How is it that we have departed so far from good counsel and common sense when it comes to what we are eating, what we're no longer at? Let thy medicine be thy food. Let thy poison be thy food, and thy food be thy poison is the daily method of operation, primarily here in the United States.

00;37;26;29 - 00;37;29;06
Seth
And we are shipping that all across the world.

00;37;29;08 - 00;37;47;10
Dalyce
So sad, isn't it? Yeah. It's horrible. It's just, you know, this just like pharmaceuticals is a moneymaking industry of selling foods with food dyes and chemicals in it because they sell more of it, making it taste better, making it bigger. You know, you get addicted to when you eat it, you know, and I think it's just snowballed over the, over the years.

00;37;47;10 - 00;38;10;07
Dalyce
I mean, when my let me say me, your kids, my kids were young, my older kids were younger, you know, that's in cereal was considered a healthy breakfast, and my kids all had cereal. We had Cheerios and we had them. I never even gave them Froot Loops and stuff. But like, even Cheerios or like Golden Grahams or Honey Nut Cheerios, like any of those we thought were the healthier ones because I think they were made differently.

00;38;10;10 - 00;38;26;13
Dalyce
And too, we didn't know any better. But I think in those past 20 years, it's just snowballed where it's like more chemicals, more chemicals, bigger, brighter color, fancier. And so it's just it's come, I think, to like a crashing halt this last year, year and a half where people are really more aware of it because diabetes is going up.

00;38;26;13 - 00;38;50;25
Dalyce
Obesity is like like skyrocketing quickly, you know, health issues and like people wanting to be on ozempic because most people are overweight or obese. So it's like now it's come to this dead halt where like people are seeing what is going on, like what is wrong with our country where there's so many health issues, you don't see it in all these other countries.

00;38;50;28 - 00;39;08;14
Dalyce
So, I mean, that's part of it. But yeah, like going back to the quote, it's like this. I just heard one the other day, they said, eat your food like it's medicine or your medicine will be your food. Oh, you know, so it's like, that is so true. It's like, yes, I know people like that, that take a ton of medicine and, and and they always wonder.

00;39;08;14 - 00;39;22;23
Dalyce
Like what? Like why me? Like, it's kind of I'm a bad luck. It's not bad luck. You know, it's just you have to be more mindful. It takes more work. Yes. I mean, we have to be a lot more aware of what goes into our food. I mean, I buy food sometimes or certain products. And so this one's healthy.

00;39;22;23 - 00;39;27;02
Dalyce
And then I get home and I go, this isn't healthy either. You know, you read to.

00;39;27;04 - 00;39;28;11
Seth
Them that in the last year.

00;39;28;17 - 00;39;38;23
Dalyce
I mean, like certain crackers, they go whole green. This is organic. And then you read the you the box. You're like, it's no different than a regular cracker. I mean, just because you buy at Whole Foods doesn't mean it's healthy.

00;39;38;26 - 00;39;39;24
Stephanie
Yeah.

00;39;39;26 - 00;39;43;26
Dalyce
So I could be on the.

00;39;43;29 - 00;39;59;26
Seth
It's just I don't know I don't know how to explain it. And I don't know if I don't think I'm the only one who feels it, but I feel there has been a great shift. I don't know if you've seen it in me. I feel it like I feel differently. It doesn't mean I don't enjoy some great gourmet cheesecake.

00;39;59;29 - 00;40;16;09
Dalyce
I think. I think for you it's probably because, you know, you get to a different decade of your life. You said you're turned 50. You start as you get older. I'm 61. As you get older, I never I mean, I don't think about like, dying, but you're aging is more you're more cognitively. You think about it. You're like, I'm getting a little bit older.

00;40;16;09 - 00;40;19;28
Dalyce
Like when you were younger, you thought I did 50s. Kind of old.

00;40;20;00 - 00;40;21;01
Seth
That's what I thought.

00;40;21;03 - 00;40;40;03
Dalyce
You know what I mean? 60 is really old, but as I get older, I'm like, 50 is not all at all and 60 is not old, right? So I think you're you're more mindful of it because you know that you are getting older, you know, years are going by and it's like you want quality of yours. So now you're more aware of like, I am going to be more aware of what I'm eating.

00;40;40;03 - 00;40;54;02
Dalyce
Like, you don't smoke. I don't know if you drink, but it's like you're just more aware of like what a what I am putting in my body. Because we also have more information about our food and what we were eating and drinking. And so now we're even more aware what, since like 20 years ago, no one knew Diet Coke was bad for you.

00;40;54;02 - 00;41;04;05
Dalyce
Everyone thought it was good because it had no calories. No, it was horrible. Right? So I think the more information we have is now we're just there's so much information out there, it's like we're more aware of it.

00;41;04;07 - 00;41;07;01
Seth
To die for. Have you seen that documentary?

00;41;07;04 - 00;41;09;28
Dalyce
You know, and I don't think I have I don't think I have anyone for you.

00;41;10;00 - 00;41;12;17
Seth
To die for. What is on.

00;41;12;17 - 00;41;16;08
Dalyce
Netflix, was get it on Amazon.

00;41;16;09 - 00;41;22;27
Stephanie
So you can also get it in a DVD form. Okay. On Amazon or Target or Walmart.

00;41;22;28 - 00;41;24;27
Dalyce
Yeah. Oh, I'll work on Amazon. I've heard about.

00;41;24;27 - 00;41;45;28
Seth
It. Powerful, powerful, powerful movie. We should we homeschool. So, you know, our girls, we were watching it one night, and, in fact, just just yesterday, I think it was just yesterday. Our seven year old was quoting from. Oh, you remember when we watch this, remember what happens when you eat these dies? And I'm thinking, mom and I were up.

00;41;45;28 - 00;41;57;04
Seth
You girls were sent to bed. We were watching the movie. Did you watch it? Yeah. They had the door cracked open and they were sitting there by the door watching this, watching this show.

00;41;57;06 - 00;41;57;24
Dalyce
That's funny.

00;41;57;28 - 00;42;24;27
Seth
But. But yeah, you know, that ought to be curriculum in the school system, right? Like, we we ought to, voluntarily and proactively educate. We are passed the day we are passed the day, like when I was growing up in, you know, in the, in the 80s. And I was born in the 70s, in the 80s, in the 90s, where we wanted to.

00;42;24;27 - 00;42;44;24
Seth
I never really liked Froot Loops. I thought they, I like, like they don't even taste good. Give me Golden Grahams, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So bad. But, you know, it was the Froot Loops. I'm talking about the crazy people, the fruity zingers, like, who were, you know, going to Whole Foods and trying to do all that. They were the crazy people.

00;42;44;26 - 00;43;14;23
Seth
But today it is becoming more mainstream to actually care what what you put into your body and how you take care of your body. Because we are seeing we're seeing the fulfillment of the prophecy that was written on the wall, right? Like back, back when we just talked about it, it was one thing. But now we're seeing people who are literally, you know, it's it's the it's the modern plagues, right?

00;43;14;23 - 00;43;23;14
Seth
It's the it's the modern plagues that we're actually living through. And like, wait a second, is there a connection to what I'm eating? You know, and and how I'm feeling?

00;43;23;17 - 00;43;23;26
Dalyce
Yeah.

00;43;23;26 - 00;43;36;28
Stephanie
I love going to the grocery store and seeing boxes with the nutrition label or ingredient label turns, you know, facing towards you. Yeah. Like, oh, there's so many people that are looking at ingredients now. Thank heavens.

00;43;36;28 - 00;43;45;13
Dalyce
Yeah, yeah that's true. But it's certainly I think a lot. And even our kids I mean I, I guess what we do it so they do it all the time too and look things up for me.

00;43;45;15 - 00;43;54;10
Stephanie
What are some of the biggest fitness mistakes you see women over 50 making, and how can they start seeing real progress?

00;43;54;12 - 00;44;13;02
Dalyce
You know, I think they don't have a plan. You know, there's so much information out there. It's just like just like food, you know, it's overwhelming. Where do I start? What do I do? So they don't have a plan. And then and then doing too much too soon, you know, they get burnt out, they get injured, or they just get overwhelmed and they just give up.

00;44;13;04 - 00;44;33;07
Dalyce
Definitely. And then they avoid strength training, you know, which is very important. I think a lot of women feel like they're going to get bulky, you know, or they're going to get injured. And they're missing out on the best tool for aging. I mean, I mean, I've the kids laughed at me because I feel like almost every question they ask me about anything, I always go build muscle.

00;44;33;07 - 00;44;50;29
Dalyce
Build muscle. Like, come on, that's not what I'm talking about. Like, I mean, I don't really build muscles like the answer is almost everything. You want a quality of life, you need to build muscle and it helps with everything. So, you know, don't avoid strength training and not eating enough protein. And that's that's really difficult. I mean, I struggle with that too as well.

00;44;51;02 - 00;45;07;05
Dalyce
We get older. You know, a lot of us, our appetites are different and it's hard to eat a lot of protein, the amount that we need to build muscle anyway, it's you have to be intentional. And so not eating enough protein, you can do the workouts and the strength training. But if you don't eat enough protein to build the muscle, you're not going to build the muscle.

00;45;07;05 - 00;45;20;15
Dalyce
Just makes it harder to build and maintain. And if they don't, you know, if you don't, they do the workouts. And that's, you know, a lot of my clients would go, well, I've been doing the workouts for a few months, but I'm not I'm not seeing any difference. And that's when you have to look at the food you're eating.

00;45;20;17 - 00;45;44;20
Dalyce
You know, you can't build a house without the, you know, the, the the bricks and the concrete and the scaffolding. You need all of that to build the house so you can't build validation. So I just it just takes a little more work, but it's doable. So those are the things I would say. Yeah. No plan doing too much too soon avoiding straight training.

00;45;44;22 - 00;46;01;10
Dalyce
And you know you could you know for a fitness beginner it's difficult because it's a lot to know. You know it's like someone that's not in the what working out or they have no idea where to start. Find you know, find someone to help you with your health is, you know, sometimes you do need to make an investment in your health.

00;46;01;18 - 00;46;19;22
Dalyce
You know, maybe you do need to start going and buy whatever it is you buy weekly, whether it's Starbucks or whatever your favorite treat is. Maybe don't do that for a few months and invest in yourself and hire a trainer, and you can go to a local big, big box gym. And some of them are fairly reasonable and just say, can you just help me, put me on a program and walk me through it?

00;46;19;22 - 00;46;35;18
Dalyce
Three days in print, and then print it out and then start doing it on your own, or take the program home and do it at home. You know, sometimes you need someone to guide you. I mean, that's what I do and that's what I do for women, you know, I simplify it for them. I give them a plan so they can literally look at and follow.

00;46;35;24 - 00;46;50;16
Dalyce
They can look at the workouts and videos and follow them right there has it in front of them. They can send me their a video of themselves doing it, and I can critique their form and I give them food choices. I don't put them on a diet. I give them food choices that works with their life and for their family that they can choose from there.

00;46;50;16 - 00;47;09;05
Dalyce
Simplify it. You know, it's not they're not like full on recipes that require tons of chopping and cooking and baking and, you know, it works for you. And this is what you want to do. Yeah. And I break down their macros like how much a lot of women don't know how much protein they should be eating. And so I break that down for them you know because sometimes you're doing it.

00;47;09;05 - 00;47;24;22
Dalyce
Sometimes you do need to track a little bit about what you eat. I don't track my food anymore because I did it years ago. But you, you know, you should be aware of how many calories you're eating a day because if you're slowly putting weight on over the years, you're you're eating too much for what? Your body, for what your body's burning.

00;47;24;25 - 00;47;39;20
Dalyce
And that's why I said you have to adjust. What you did before might not be working for you. Because if you're losing muscle, which you are, if you're not strength training you 100% or losing muscle. And so you're someone 50 and you haven't worked out and, you know, from 30 to 50, 35 to 50, that's 15 years.

00;47;39;20 - 00;48;04;28
Dalyce
You this 1% of of your, muscle a year. So that's 15 plus this 15 pounds, you know, like me, 15 pounds of muscle that you've lost. So your metabolism now dropped so you can't eat as much as you did in your 20s or 30s. So you need to adjust your calorie intake or you need to like now you need to bring your physical activity up and add some muscle to your body to, you know, so that you can eat more food and then you can increase your calories a little bit.

00;48;04;28 - 00;48;16;01
Dalyce
But it's just all about adjusting. And and it does take some thought and a little bit of work. But like I said, you can find someone to help you or do your research, but just keep it simple.

00;48;16;03 - 00;48;19;19
Stephanie
I would say that's everything that I needed.

00;48;19;21 - 00;48;31;15
Seth
Thank you for that personal thank you for this personal training. There you go. Why are we doing this show today? Because we needed we just wanted to get Stephanie some personal. Yeah.

00;48;31;17 - 00;48;37;19
Stephanie
I was going to follow up with. That's what I've needed my whole life. I'm not like, that's what I mean.

00;48;37;21 - 00;48;41;01
Dalyce
You're you're probably already doing all that.

00;48;41;04 - 00;49;00;27
Stephanie
I'm starting to. I'm starting to. I've ebbed and flowed. I have always been that person who has had super high metabolism, super high. So I could eat, I could, I would I was always referred to as the bottomless pit. Yeah. Or do you have a hollow leg? Stephanie, you need to eat another sandwich or have two pieces of cake.

00;49;01;01 - 00;49;07;15
Dalyce
But I'm guessing are you a really, like, high energy person? Like always on the go, like lots of energy?

00;49;07;17 - 00;49;10;13
Stephanie
No, I've had health struggles. I was I was looking.

00;49;10;13 - 00;49;15;07
Dalyce
At South because I was going to see if you can answer. I was referring to not yes or no.

00;49;15;09 - 00;49;32;07
Stephanie
I feel like I'm getting it back. But I as a, as a child, I was I had very high energy. I was nicknamed Tigger by my family because I was always bouncing around with daddy. Yeah. However, in eighth grade, I was diagnosed with Epstein-Barr virus.

00;49;32;10 - 00;49;32;21
Dalyce
Okay.

00;49;32;28 - 00;49;45;08
Stephanie
And, you know, chronic fatigue. And so, that is something that I've had to deal with on and off my life. I also recently found out that I, I believe I have ALS down syndrome.

00;49;45;11 - 00;49;46;09
Dalyce
See that again?

00;49;46;11 - 00;49;53;18
Stephanie
Else down. I might be pronouncing it wrong. LS ls downloads. Oh my goodness. Now I can't say you have.

00;49;53;25 - 00;49;54;10
Dalyce
There you go.

00;49;54;16 - 00;49;55;20
Stephanie
It's a it's.

00;49;55;23 - 00;49;57;04
Dalyce
One of the symptoms of that.

00;49;57;06 - 00;49;59;13
Stephanie
It's a type of, hypermobility.

00;49;59;15 - 00;50;00;16
Dalyce
Okay.

00;50;00;18 - 00;50;07;15
Stephanie
And and now that I'm in my 40s, I'm starting to feel it more in, like, my ankles and my knees more than I ever have.

00;50;07;22 - 00;50;09;02
Dalyce
Yeah.

00;50;09;05 - 00;50;19;11
Stephanie
But my whole life, I've been, you know, my hips will pop out of place. My knees or my ankles will pop out of place. I can pop my arm out of place intentionally. I could do arm tricks.

00;50;19;13 - 00;50;25;09
Dalyce
You notice that? Do you notice that it helps your or it works against you when you do yoga?

00;50;25;11 - 00;50;32;07
Stephanie
I have to be more intentional, so that I'm not overextending myself. Just because I can doesn't mean I should.

00;50;32;09 - 00;50;33;17
Dalyce
Yeah.

00;50;33;19 - 00;50;53;21
Stephanie
And, like, in eighth grade, I was a cheerleader, and I thought, oh, I can just, you know, do high kicks, or I could do whatever it is. So I've done that my whole life. And then recently discovering, this hypermobility and, realizing that it might be beyond that, I've realized that that's not necessarily good because I've been doing it wrong my whole life.

00;50;53;21 - 00;51;01;10
Stephanie
I've. Because I knew my joints were hypermobile. Yeah, I would just kick my leg up instead of using the muscle to really control it.

00;51;01;10 - 00;51;02;09
Dalyce
Right.

00;51;02;12 - 00;51;09;25
Stephanie
And so that's a really bad habit that now I have to break out of doing when I do yoga or anything, really.

00;51;09;27 - 00;51;13;22
Dalyce
And just to be more intentional about strengthening the muscles around your joints. Right?

00;51;13;22 - 00;51;35;20
Stephanie
Yes, absolutely. Yeah, absolutely. So because of that, and also I have the gene mutation as far I don't know if you're familiar with that, but it has a lot to do with, your body's natural detoxing pathways. And, I have, like, one of the worst forms possible.

00;51;35;22 - 00;51;38;08
Dalyce
So that mean you have to be careful with what you eat or.

00;51;38;11 - 00;51;41;23
Stephanie
Yes. Yes, what I'm exposed to,

00;51;41;26 - 00;51;44;03
Dalyce
Chemicals and chemicals.

00;51;44;03 - 00;51;50;11
Stephanie
Or foods or or vitamins. They have to be, methylated is the purest form.

00;51;50;14 - 00;51;52;14
Dalyce
So you really have to read labels.

00;51;52;17 - 00;51;55;23
Stephanie
Yes, yes, I do, I do the.

00;51;55;23 - 00;51;58;16
Seth
Smell of pot in Times Square new you.

00;51;58;17 - 00;51;59;26
Stephanie
My goodness.

00;51;59;28 - 00;52;02;19
Dalyce
We went to that. That would get me to.

00;52;02;22 - 00;52;18;29
Stephanie
We went to Times Square. Our company was ringing the Nasdaq bell and we got to be a part of that. And, it was an incredible experience. And after I think it was the next day before we flew out, we had an evening flight and we were like, oh, let's go do some social media content out on Time Square.

00;52;18;29 - 00;52;40;12
Stephanie
That'd be really unique, really cool. Yeah. So we went out there and we were only out there for an hour and a half, and then I essentially demanded to go back to them. Yeah, because it was so thick that it was making me super dizzy and nauseous. And I'm like, I, I can't. And so we went back to the hotel room, packed up and rested for a little while.

00;52;40;12 - 00;52;48;08
Stephanie
And then so, we get in the Uber and it was so bad. And mind you, like, I've had food poisoning a handful of times in my life.

00;52;48;14 - 00;52;48;23
Dalyce
Yeah.

00;52;48;25 - 00;53;09;14
Stephanie
And every time I have to force myself to throw up because I just have trauma surrounding that as a child. And so my body does not naturally do that. Only once in my whole life has I ever naturally done that. And, and so we get in this Uber and we're, we're, you know, on the way to the airport.

00;53;09;14 - 00;53;16;02
Stephanie
And I literally almost asked the Uber to pull over so I could throw up because it was affecting me. So bad.

00;53;16;04 - 00;53;18;04
Dalyce
That's the worst thing that.

00;53;18;07 - 00;53;29;17
Stephanie
Yeah, it was absolutely horrible. It's I've had to keep, you know, reminding me to breathe deeply and slow and put my head down. And, I mean, it lasted for hours.

00;53;29;22 - 00;53;33;28
Dalyce
It was intense for. That's a for that's the worst feeling ever is when you have to throw it.

00;53;34;01 - 00;53;42;06
Seth
Speaking something you said Dallas about, you know, where women might struggle when they're starting or women over 50. Hey, what do I do now?

00;53;42;06 - 00;53;43;11
Dalyce
And, yeah.

00;53;43;14 - 00;54;04;27
Seth
You talked about having a plan and. And how just a simple tool can help you. I have not really, other than a stint in my late teens where I was, you know, with a buddy, with a friend, with somebody who was kind of pulling me along. They were into weight training. I'm like, okay, cool. You know, I'll let let's yeah, let's go lift.

00;54;04;27 - 00;54;23;17
Seth
And yeah, you know, they had home gyms. Other than that, I've never really lifted my whole life. Right. Like I've been I'm super active. Yeah. I'm, you know, I'm a stringy farm kid, you know, like like string being. But I'm kind of strong, and I just have never really built muscle.

00;54;23;20 - 00;54;24;10
Dalyce
Yeah.

00;54;24;12 - 00;54;41;16
Seth
Until, you know, in the last few handful of years, a couple of years of what would what would you say? Maybe a few years. 3 or 4 years, maybe when I'm traveling, I'll. I'll hit a gym like we we didn't even have a gym in our house. But I travel, okay, I'll hit the gym, but I didn't really, you know, you don't know what you're doing, right?

00;54;41;18 - 00;55;03;06
Seth
There's this threshold, right? We had, a good friend of our. A good friend of ours, Mary Lynn, said, hey, you know, I use this particular app and, so I downloaded it. I mean, just immediately downloaded it. Yeah. And it was just a very simple, like, I can just testify to the power of having a simple tool that could be a friend.

00;55;03;06 - 00;55;25;19
Seth
A friend can be a tool, right? Yeah. But a simple tool to that. I could punch in, here's me and here's what I want. I think. Done that again and voila. You know, I put it in the menu and here's what you need to do, Seth. Like, you don't need to know the whys. You don't need to just do these, you know, you.

00;55;25;19 - 00;55;30;14
Dalyce
Know, the technical name or it doesn't need to be like, technically what? You're working on your body. Just do this.

00;55;30;17 - 00;55;36;05
Seth
Yeah. And just like you're saying, well, you know, your program and, and, you have an app now, don't you? Do you have.

00;55;36;07 - 00;55;38;17
Dalyce
I do, I have an online app. And I.

00;55;38;17 - 00;55;39;07
Seth
Saw that.

00;55;39;10 - 00;55;55;00
Dalyce
Yeah, you can download and I can reach women all over the world. But I was going to say this at the end, but I do have another app coming out, on Mother's Day, which is another app where you. It's, it's just gonna be a library of all my workouts. You can just pick and choose your workout so it's not personalized for you.

00;55;55;00 - 00;56;13;11
Dalyce
Like my, my one on one where I'm personalizing and we work through all your issues and I make the food just for you, or your meal plan just for you. This one is just it's a library of workouts from 10 minutes to 40 minutes. You can pick you want to do abs one day, or you want to work the back of your arms one day, or you want to sit in the chair and stretch, or you just want to warm up.

00;56;13;14 - 00;56;28;12
Dalyce
You can pick from it. So yeah, that's coming out soon. So I have something for everyone. I mean, not everyone can afford to go to a gym. Not everyone can afford a personal trainer. I totally get that. That's a luxury. So that's why I came out with the one on one. Now I have something I'll be more affordable for.

00;56;28;14 - 00;56;31;15
Dalyce
Anyone can afford anybody anywhere?

00;56;31;15 - 00;56;31;25
Seth
Yeah.

00;56;31;27 - 00;56;34;03
Dalyce
Anybody. Anywhere. Yeah. Yeah.

00;56;34;06 - 00;56;54;17
Seth
That's exactly what what this tool was for me. And I've been doing it a couple years. I don't know how many. You know, I don't know, it counts how many workouts you've done. And I just I look back and I think, wow, you know, not not one workout later not, but wow. Hundreds of, you know, workouts later. Just small little.

00;56;54;19 - 00;57;05;19
Dalyce
It might just be that motivation though, right? You look at you go, yeah, I did like a hundred workouts. I did 75 or I increased my weight or I actually could do two sets. It's like it's for you to see that. It's encouraging.

00;57;05;22 - 00;57;30;16
Seth
It really is. It demystified something that I really wasn't familiar with. Yeah. And and again, I'm happy to do it on my own because it fits into my schedule. You know, Steph would rather go to the yoga studio. Although we do it at home to some extent. But yeah, I'm telling you that that tool that you're coming out with, as an additional tool to your one on one personalized coaching, it it has changed.

00;57;30;18 - 00;57;37;21
Seth
That approach has changed my life. I feel like I'm in the best shape of my entire life.

00;57;37;24 - 00;57;41;12
Dalyce
And isn't that great? Isn't that great a 50 for you to be able to say that?

00;57;41;14 - 00;57;43;23
Seth
More muscle than I've ever had in my entire life.

00;57;43;23 - 00;57;57;28
Dalyce
That's great. And, Stephanie, it's like you. You like doing workouts. You know, you go to, like to go to yoga and some women or some people like to workout at home. Some people get motivated. But that's what's great about having an app and just choosing what you want to do. You might get up one day and do just do a yoga flow.

00;57;57;28 - 00;58;12;24
Dalyce
You might just want to do it's want to do a workout that targets my lower abs, or I just want to do a workout where I can use my minivans. I do all of that on there, and it's literally you hit start and you follow me. It's like you're coming to my class, you know, just follow individual. You're actually following me like you're in a class.

00;58;12;26 - 00;58;19;08
Dalyce
So yeah, it'll be helpful because I know women get overwhelmed is what what should I do? You know, where do I start?

00;58;19;10 - 00;58;36;15
Stephanie
Okay. So that's that's where I was going when I went off on my health. My personal health stuff is growing up because I was so tiny my whole life that people were always like, oh, you're fine. Like, I literally would ask, can you please show me, can you help me in my 20s? And they're like, oh, you're skinny, you're fine.

00;58;36;18 - 00;58;38;27
Stephanie
And I'm like, no, but I'm not healthy. I need help.

00;58;38;28 - 00;58;41;08
Dalyce
Kind of like, you don't have a problem because you're skinny. You don't need to workout.

00;58;41;16 - 00;58;42;01
Stephanie
Yes.

00;58;42;08 - 00;58;43;03
Dalyce
Yeah. Yes.

00;58;43;03 - 00;59;01;07
Stephanie
And I feel like because of that I'm not blaming them because that's, you know, that's it's my fault for not pursuing somebody else or you know, if I know like but but it is so overwhelming that I didn't know where to turn. And because I had already been shut down by a few other people, I'm like, well, is anybody going to help me?

00;59;01;09 - 00;59;09;23
Stephanie
You know? And so I love, love what you're doing and encouraging others, especially to start, start sooner because it's true. You know, I.

00;59;09;23 - 00;59;22;05
Dalyce
Mean, I even have on my app, I have I have one more for it's called this is where you start. Like if you open my app, you're like, I don't even know workout director. Just I have one that says, this is where you started. And if you've never worked out or you haven't worked out in a while, start here.

00;59;22;10 - 00;59;27;00
Dalyce
You know what? I give you options. Like you can do it with just a bodyweight, or you can do it with a set of weights. Yeah.

00;59;27;02 - 00;59;28;09
Stephanie
That's so perfect. Yeah.

00;59;28;11 - 00;59;29;00
Dalyce
Yeah.

00;59;29;03 - 00;59;30;22
Seth
That comes out on Mother's Day this year.

00;59;30;27 - 00;59;37;13
Dalyce
Yeah. Yeah. This couple of weeks I just finished working on that. So yeah, that's been my passion project for the last year.

00;59;37;15 - 00;59;45;26
Stephanie
So how do societal expectations and stereotypes affect women's mindsets and what can be done to break free from them?

00;59;45;28 - 01;00;00;27
Dalyce
Well, I mean, as you saw my mom on my Instagram, I just believe that age isn't a limitation. And like, I just like to say that this is just like a new monitor for me recently. Just it's a superpower like you know, I think a lot of people think of age as like, oh my gosh, I'm getting older.

01;00;00;29 - 01;00;20;26
Dalyce
But no, it's like we have more wisdom when we're older, right? And use it as a superpower. And that's what I share on my Instagram every day, is that, you know, you can start sharing my mom at 93 or showing that I'm 61 and a 40 year old's looking at it. Women need to see what's more of what's possible, you know, not more about rules or what they should stop doing or what they should be doing.

01;00;20;26 - 01;00;42;18
Dalyce
It's like just because we're an older number doesn't mean we should be able to do it right. So I think ness and I think, I think society's getting better with it, with stereotypes. I think we are kind of breaking out of a little bit, you know, you picture, you know, you said, you know, like I said, when you're younger, some younger kids go 60s or, you know, or 70s all the closer you get to 70, the more of a 70s, not old.

01;00;42;21 - 01;01;01;05
Dalyce
But you know, when you're in your 40s, it sounds really old, right? So just to just outdated labels that they place, I think especially, you know, on women as we age, I think we're getting better. But once again, sometimes we're told how we should look when you're 30, 60 or 70 or 80 or I should dress how you should move.

01;01;01;08 - 01;01;16;03
Dalyce
The video that I posted today of my mom working out at the gym is, you know, and I said on it, it's like my mom and I probably had thousands of people say the same thing. The comment was, your mom's 93. But she moved so much younger and she does. She doesn't move like a 93 year old.

01;01;16;03 - 01;01;31;06
Dalyce
In our mid-nineties, my husband were talking about us like 93 of us, I think someone walking with a cane and they were being really, you know, hunched over and like, frail and 93 doesn't have to look like that, you know? I mean, there's some seven year olds that look like that. It doesn't have to look like that.

01;01;31;06 - 01;01;45;24
Dalyce
But you have to take that step to to make sure that doesn't end up that way. You know, you do have to do put some work in. You can't say I'm 60, I'm 70. Oh, well, I'm just getting older, you know, you've got to you've got to take those steps and start doing something.

01;01;45;26 - 01;02;00;04
Stephanie
Just like you said towards the beginning. You know what you're looking for, you're going to find. So if you're looking for others that are old and frail, you're going to find them. But if you if you want to find others who aren't there out there.

01;02;00;06 - 01;02;16;15
Dalyce
And that's why it's such a great message. And that's why I do like sharing my mom. I wish I could share her more. She lives in Canada and people go, that's not very nice. You don't have your mom doesn't live with you. She will never move from Canada. It's her home. She loves her home. And my, you know, my brothers and sisters, some of them are there, so she would never move.

01;02;16;15 - 01;02;32;15
Dalyce
I've asked her for years. Come live with us. And, I mean, we lived in California for years and she still wouldn't move. But that's why I like to share on Instagram is because it's it's so powerful, just powerful to see someone at 93. And I don't take it for granted, but I'm so used to seeing her being like that.

01;02;32;17 - 01;02;49;10
Dalyce
Is that someone moving at 93, the way she moves? I mean, she can sit down on the floor and get up. I mean, she can she drive? She comes out. I mean, just because you're 93 doesn't mean you can't do it. So you need to get that out of your mind, like, and stop using that all or nothing mindset of, well, I'm 70 now, so those days are gone.

01;02;49;10 - 01;03;05;08
Dalyce
No, no, they don't have to be. I mean, if but like you said, the power of the mind. If you tell yourself that it will, they will be gone. Right. I mean if you're overweight and you're like I'm just, you know, you hear I'm just big boned or it's genetic or if you tell yourself that then you're, that's how you're gonna live.

01;03;05;10 - 01;03;08;17
Dalyce
You need to get out of that mindset. You can change. You can make changes.

01;03;08;19 - 01;03;28;03
Seth
I know you you already answered this in part, but I want I want to because it was part of another conversation or discussion thread. I want to just straight up ask you this question kind of as a soundbite. And that is what are the three biggest reasons women over 40 avoid strength training?

01;03;28;05 - 01;03;46;09
Dalyce
I think I think one, it's they're afraid of getting bulky, you know, and even though you can read it and they've heard it a million times, I mean, I taught spinning classes for years and I still don't hear that from women. I just I feel like doing screening. I'm getting big in. My legs are getting bigger. It's just a myth, you know?

01;03;46;13 - 01;04;03;16
Dalyce
I mean, yeah, you're going to grow up. If you grow muscle, you are going to get bigger, you know? But if you if you don't shed the body fat over the muscle, you might look bulkier, but then that's why you adjust your eating, you know? So it's that, and maybe, I think, afraid of getting hurt.

01;04;03;18 - 01;04;04;12
Stephanie

01;04;04;14 - 01;04;22;27
Dalyce
And I just think we hear a lot of excuses. It's just I don't have time, you know, I just don't have the time. I'm really busy. I work two jobs or, you know, and I empathize with, with women or anyone that that works full time or is a single mom. I honestly don't have a single. I've never been a single mom.

01;04;22;29 - 01;04;46;12
Dalyce
And so, I mean, I this is my second husband, so there's a very short period, but I've never considered myself a single mom. So I, I empathize. I don't know how single women do it, so I do understand that. But you have to make time for yourself. And we have cell phones now. And I just think that the majority of people that have a cell phone, or at least on it scrolling for you, can't tell me you're not scrolling for at least 15 minutes just looking at something that you probably don't have to be looking at.

01;04;46;14 - 01;04;50;01
Dalyce
So I think you just need to make the time. You have to make the time.

01;04;50;04 - 01;04;50;27
Stephanie
You have to prioritize.

01;04;50;27 - 01;05;08;11
Dalyce
You have to ask yourself, how important is your health? You have to make it a priority. And then just do it. So yeah, I think it's I think that's it's what I think. It's like I said, I think it's afraid of getting bulky, not having time. It's making excuses and not knowing where to start. You know, they just don't know where to start.

01;05;08;11 - 01;05;24;12
Dalyce
It's like they want to do it, but you know, they're not in the fitness world. And there's so much information out there you get on Instagram or TikTok. It's like, oh my God, there's like a million fitness people and a million videos and a million exercises. What? It's just like, what do I do? Where do I start? It's overwhelming, you know?

01;05;24;12 - 01;05;25;23
Dalyce
So they don't know where to start.

01;05;25;26 - 01;05;37;13
Stephanie
Absolutely. So what have been some of the most defining experiences in your life, and what experiences have defined your character and tested your capacity?

01;05;37;15 - 01;05;54;24
Dalyce
Gosh, I think being a mom of seven, you guys have lots of kids too. I think, you know, a wife and a mom of seven kids. You know, the births has been the most defining experience. It's changed me in so many different ways. You know, going through a post, you know, gaining weight when you're pregnant and having to lose it afterwards.

01;05;54;26 - 01;06;19;26
Dalyce
Nursing, juggling five kids, seven kids, you know, five kids under the age of ten at one point, all of those years tested my patience, energy, all of that, learning how to multitask, you know, learning how to make time for myself. And I think it's most important is how to take care of yourself when you are busy and when you have one kid or no kids, you have dogs.

01;06;19;26 - 01;06;38;04
Dalyce
Whatever it is. I mean, everyone's busy, everyone is busy. You know, I think, you know, you hear women that say, I don't know how you do it. With seven kids, you only have one kid or two kids when I had one child, my first baby, I felt like I was. I think it's overwhelm, as I did at seven because I grew into seven kids.

01;06;38;04 - 01;06;59;19
Dalyce
I, you know, I've learned over the years, but I was I felt just as overwhelmed with one. So I think any amount of kids is overwhelming. And I just think life today is overwhelming and everyone is very busy and there's so many distractions with, you know, cell phones and social media and stuff. I think you just have to you have to ask yourself, what's the most important thing?

01;06;59;22 - 01;07;17;14
Dalyce
You know, you have to put, you know, first, you have to think of the future like what? What do you want your future to look like? And then start from there and you have to put that time aside. So I don't know if I answer your question, but I think you said, what define my character and what defining experience?

01;07;17;14 - 01;07;32;04
Dalyce
It's the seven kids, you know, I think seven kids, you know, you you said you said you. As you get older, I think you start thinking more about your health. And that's what my seven kids did for me is just being pregnant and being more intentional. What are you what you're putting in your body because you're creating another human?

01;07;32;04 - 01;07;47;15
Dalyce
I had to do the seven times and then, you know, gaining the weight and then having to take the weight off, but trying to do it healthy, you know, trying to how can I keep my energy level so I can take care of five kids? You know, having all these little kids at home, like all of that stuff.

01;07;47;17 - 01;07;53;24
Dalyce
That was that's probably define me. I'd say motherhood. Maybe it's defined everything in my life.

01;07;53;27 - 01;08;01;18
Stephanie
Yeah, absolutely. Definitely changes you. Or I should say it gives you an opportunity to change.

01;08;01;25 - 01;08;02;09
Dalyce
Yeah.

01;08;02;15 - 01;08;05;15
Stephanie
And prioritize yourself and do it.

01;08;05;15 - 01;08;10;08
Dalyce
Make it does make you change it. Just you do prioritize. You do change your priorities for sure. We influence.

01;08;10;11 - 01;08;17;04
Stephanie
So how can women advocate for their own health and navigate the health care system effectively?

01;08;17;06 - 01;08;35;16
Dalyce
You know, I think they need to speak up. You know, when you go in your doctor's office or any of your health care, just ask questions. I mean, you you have to be an advocate for your own health because you know, your body does. And I don't think anyone's going to take it as serious or do as much investigating as you would, you know?

01;08;35;16 - 01;08;51;06
Dalyce
So I just think that you need to speak up. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Don't be afraid to get a second opinion. I mean, I've been at doctors before where I'm like, now, you know, you leave and you go, okay. And then I go, why am I no get a second or third opinion? I would say, I mean, I hear stories all the time.

01;08;51;06 - 01;09;06;14
Dalyce
I just was listening to one today. Actually, it was Dolph Lundgren. He was on a podcast and he was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago. And the first doctor told him, he had three years left to live. And then he met a doctor through a friend that said, you know, come in and I want to check you out.

01;09;06;14 - 01;09;21;22
Dalyce
And she checked him out and did all these other tests, and she said, no, you've been missing this. We need to do something different. And she gave me all this stuff to go through. And this is like ten years later now he's still alive. So I think I think you need to get a second opinion. Sometimes a third opinion.

01;09;21;24 - 01;09;38;02
Dalyce
Keep track of your symptoms. You know, always keep notes on your health and your appointments, like just always taking notes. So, you know, you get this track of things that have happened in the past. I did I feel this way or did I? One of the doctor told me, so diagnose and and trust your instincts because like I said, you know your body best, right?

01;09;38;08 - 01;09;49;01
Dalyce
No one knows your body like you. And I always feel like gut instinct is usually right. Do you feel like something's off or something's not right? Don't put it off. Check it out.

01;09;49;03 - 01;10;07;20
Stephanie
Yes. I can't remember the full details, but I just remember when my cousin was young and I think she was a teenager and she had some pain, and she went to the doctor and they did testing and they're like, oh, she's fine. Just, you know, take her home letter. And my aunt, her mom was like, she is absolutely not okay.

01;10;07;21 - 01;10;32;18
Stephanie
And there is something wrong and we need to figure it out. And the doctor is like, no, she's good, you know, go home. So instead of going home, she took her to a different doctor and ended up finding out that I think it was her appendix burst. And yeah, she ended up having to have surgery. And if her mom didn't listen to her child and her gut saying something is terribly wrong right now, you know, it could have killed her.

01;10;32;21 - 01;10;47;25
Dalyce
Yeah, I think we all have. We all heard of someone that has some kind of a medical story right there, like they were misdiagnosed or they didn't go and they should have gone to see a doctor or they waited too long, whatever that is. I mean, doctors only have so many minutes to give you now because they're so overworked, right?

01;10;47;25 - 01;11;08;18
Dalyce
It's not, you know, in defense of them, they don't have they don't have enough time with you. You know, I feel like anytime I've been to the doctor, I always see someone different. So, you know, I times you don't develop a relationship with a doctor that knows you well enough. Yeah. I think you need to just. You need to listen to your own body and do your own investigating and just, you know, push, advocate and advocate for yourself.

01;11;08;21 - 01;11;47;24
Seth
You are the CEO of your health and something you said, Dallas, that that really just sparked this idea. And I can't remember if you said this exactly or if it's just the idea that sparked to my head. But listen, nobody, nobody is going to be living with your body longer than you are. So this idea that we're paralyzed by fear or ignorance because somebody is in a white coat and we have so many wonderful, very capable health care practitioners, but like you said, even the best of them, well, not even the best of them, none of them, even including the best of them, are going to live, live with your body as long as you're

01;11;47;24 - 01;12;08;29
Seth
going to live with your body. So at the end of the day, you're going to be left holding the bag, whatever is in that bag. And that alone is is your prerogative. Your invitation to say, yeah, I need a second opinion, I need a 22nd opinion. I need to follow my intuition.

01;12;09;03 - 01;12;24;27
Dalyce
Right? And I mean, I hear you're women. Are you heard all the time on the internet? Stephanie is women talking about hormones, right. And they know some someone will see a doctor and they go, oh, you're fine. You know, whatever they're telling them. And the woman knows, no, I'm not. I know that I never had this before.

01;12;24;27 - 01;12;37;18
Dalyce
Now I do, and I don't feel good. And they're like, no, you're fine. Then you just need to switch doctors. That's okay. You don't have to be embarrassed or feel bad. Just switch doctors because there's lots of doctors out there and you have to find the right fit for you. You know, like I said, you know your own body.

01;12;37;18 - 01;12;39;24
Dalyce
You know, if if something's off.

01;12;39;27 - 01;13;02;23
Stephanie
And don't wait so long. Right. I'm saying that from my own experience. Yeah. From the last five, ten years of going to one doctor and getting a full panel done and nope, everything's, you know, in the green. We're good to go. I don't know what to tell you. And and this was a natural doctor, you know, and typically they're a little more honed in on that sometimes.

01;13;02;23 - 01;13;20;10
Stephanie
Yeah. And and so I just took it for her word instead of going and getting a second opinion, saying, no, something is wrong. Right. I can tell it's off, you know, and waiting a few years to see a difference. Right, doctor? That's like, oh no, things are off.

01;13;20;13 - 01;13;27;10
Dalyce
Yeah. No, I yeah I don't think you can say that strong enough is you're right. Just go by a gut and get a second or third opinion.

01;13;27;12 - 01;13;36;05
Seth
Boom. Dallas. Thank you. That was I feel like I feel like I've just entered a workout. You know.

01;13;36;07 - 01;13;41;00
Dalyce
I've come to, you know, rest, right. Rest and recover. Yes.

01;13;41;02 - 01;13;58;25
Stephanie
You are just you just have so much knowledge. And I love how direct you are and how much you want to give and to help, help women, help people in general. I feel very inspired by you and your mother and all that you're doing.

01;13;59;00 - 01;14;14;14
Dalyce
I do, I do love it. I love helping women. I love I love it when I know that they've actually I've I've actually helped them, you know, that's why I'm so I'm so out there, it's like I want them to know that it's doesn't have to be that difficult. It doesn't have to be just to keep it simple.

01;14;14;16 - 01;14;15;14
Seth

01;14;15;16 - 01;14;28;06
Stephanie
And I will say it's women like you that help me. You and your mother who help me be excited to age. I'm not. You know, I'm no longer afraid to age. Like, it doesn't have to be horrible.

01;14;28;08 - 01;14;29;06
Dalyce
Exactly.

01;14;29;09 - 01;14;32;07
Stephanie
As long as I invest in myself, it won't be great.

01;14;32;10 - 01;14;38;12
Dalyce
But just put this extra ten, 15, 20 minutes, a couple days a week or daily and keep moving. Yeah.

01;14;38;15 - 01;14;40;12
Stephanie
And so thank you I appreciate it.

01;14;40;12 - 01;14;43;23
Dalyce
Welcome. Thank you self as well.

01;14;43;25 - 01;14;47;20
Seth
